After making his international debut, Tilak Varma has revealed that he visualizes winning the World Cup for India every day. Tilak Varma made his international debut in IND vs WI 1st T20I.

Batting at No.4, the left-handed batsman scored 39 runs off 22 balls in the match at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. Although India lost the match later, Varma managed to impress with his hard-hitting batting style at a wicket where all Indian batters struggled to score runs.

After Tilak Varma’s debut, BCCI shared a video on their Twitter account. In the video, Varma said that he is happy to make his debut for India.

“Everyone has this dream of playing for the country, I never thought that I will be able to play for India so soon in my career, because, after the Under-19 World Cup, there was the coronavirus issue which happened, so I thought let me just use the opportunity that I get,” the left-handed batsman said in the video.

Tilak Varma, who earned the national call-up after his marvellous performance for Mumbai Indians in the last two IPL seasons, also revealed that his goal is to win World Cup for India. He also added that he always visualizes winning World Cup for India every single day.

“From childhood, it has been my goal to win India the World Cup. In my mind, I always think about ways how to win the World cup. I keep visualising everyday that I will go and bat in this number and win World Cup.

Now I got the India jersey and I used to visualise it, but now, it has come true, so I feel that moment (of winning World Cup) will also come soon”, the Mumbai Indians batter further added. Have a look at the video below. 

Tilak Varma Scored Most Runs For India In 1st T20I

During his quickfire knock of 39 runs off 22 balls, Tilak Varma smacked 2 fours and 3 sixes. He held a high strike rate of 177+. In comparison, no Indian player had a strike rate of more than 100 in the match except for Axar Patel (118.18) and Arshdeep Singh (171.43).

Even senior players like Suryakumar Yadav (21 off 21) and Hardik Pandya (19 off 19) could only score run-a-ball before losing their wicket. However, with the lone batting warrior Tilak Varma, the men-in-blue failed to win the match. Chasing a target of 150, India could only reach 145-5 in 20 overs and lost by 4 runs.
