Tilak Varma, on Sunday (August 6), starred with the bat once again for Team India as he played a fine knock in the ongoing second T20I against West Indies in Guyana.

The highly-rated batsman made his T20I debut for India earlier this week during the first match of the series and impressed straight away. He opened his account with two straight sixes and was the top-scored for India although West Indies went on to win the game by 4 runs while defending 149. Tilak Varma scored 39 runs off 22 balls.

And after missing out on a well-deserved fifty on his debut, he scored one in only his second T20I to rescue India. After Hardik Pandya decided to bat first, India made a poor start once again. Shubman Gill was the first to depart after scoring 7 as his poor run continued. Vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav could not get going either and was out for just 1.

Tilak Varma celebrates fifty in style:

India were reeling at 18 for 2 in the fourth over when Tilak Varma joined Ishan Kishan in the middle. With the team in a precarious position, the left-handed batsman decided against playing the big shots. He and Ishan Kishan steadied the ship with a 42-run stand before the latter was dismissed by Romario Shepherd. Sanju Samson also failed to last long.

Tilak Varma, however, held firm from one end and went on to complete a well-compiled fifty. He also hit the occasional boundaries to keep India on track for a good total. However, he did not last long after reaching his fifty and was sent back by Akeal Hosein for 51. His knock came off 41 balls and was studded with five fours and a six.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma caught everyone’s attention not only with his batting but also with his celebration. As soon as he reached his fifty, he received warm applause from the Indian dressing room. And as his teammates and coaches were clapping for him, Tilak Varma was seen breaking into impromptu dance moves.

Watch:

Talking about the game, India have finished their innings on 152 for 7. The Men in Blue will be looking to bounce back and draw level in the series by winning the ongoing game.
