The Cricket West Indies (CWI), on Monday (July 24), announced the West Indies squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Team India. The two-match Test series between the two teams ended on Monday and they will now resume their rivalry in the 50-over format.
CWI picked the squad after holding a four-day preparatory camp at Kensington Oval for the players to prepare for the ODI as well as the T20I series against India. After the three-match ODI series, India and West Indies will be taking on each other in a five-match T20I series.

The hosts have recalled middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer and fast-bowler Oshane Thomas for the ODIs. Pacer Jayden Seales and leg-spinner Yannic Cariah have made it to the squad too after completing their rehabilitation from surgery.
“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up. Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’,” West Indies lead selector Dr Desmond Haynes said.
West Indies ODI squad:
Allrounder Keemo Paul could not make it to the squad because of an injury. On the other hand, star duo Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder were both unavailable for selection. Pooran is currently in the United States, playing for MI New York in the ongoing Major League Cricket. On the other hand, Holder was a part of the Test team for the recently-concluded series against India.
The ODI series will begin on Thursday (July 27) at the Kensington Oval. The first two matches will be played at the same venue before West Indies and India travel to Trinidad for the third and final ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on 1 August.
