IND vs PAK: "It's Just Superficial Talks"- Salman Butt Lashes Out At Ramiz Raja For His Comments On Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, a standout for Team India, made a brilliant comeback in the Asia Cup earlier this month. Despite India being eliminated in the Super 4 rounds, the former captain led the team in scoring and finished second overall in the tournament.

In five games, Kohli scored 276 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 147.59, including a century against Afghanistan in India’s last tournament encounter. 

He tied Ricky Ponting’s record (71) to become the joint-second-highest century-maker in international cricket. This was Kohli’s first century in more than three years. Ramiz Raja, the head of Pakistan Cricket Board, made an odd remark regarding Kohli and skipper Babar Azam over a month after his century.

Following Pakistan’s defeats in the Asia Cup final and the seven-match T20I series against England, the PCB chairman discussed the recent criticism of the squad. He compared the support of Indian and Pakistani teams, saying that Kohli’s century against Afghanistan eclipsed India’s subpar performance in the Asia Cup. 

“India should then have been severely criticised for not reaching the final. But that is not what their fans and media do. I’ll tell you…when Virat Kohli scored a century against Afghanistan, they forgot their entire Asia Cup. Will we ever do that?” Ramiz had said in a chat with Samaa TV. 

There Was Absolutely No Need To Take A Dig At Virat Kohli: Salman Butt

Many fans and former Pakistani cricketers took exception to Ramiz’s remark, including ex-captain Salman Butt, who called Ramiz out for his “dig” at Kohli. 

“There was absolutely no need to take a dig. Aap relevant example bhi nahi de sakte. Vo duniya ka top player, he’s only the second man in entire history of cricket jiske 70+ hundred hai. Beherhaal, I don’t know.. he is frustrated.

Maybe he’s got some news, jo baakiyon ko kuch dino baad milegi. Unhone aur bhi kayi baat ki hai jinka koi mettle ya logic nahi tha. Bas satehi baatein ki hain (You can’t even give relevant examples. He’s only the third man in cricket history with 70+ international tons. He is frustrated.
