Team India made history by equalling the world record for the most consecutive Test series wins against a single opponent. Shubman Gill’s side equaled South Africa’s record with a seven-wicket triumph over Roston Chase’s West Indies in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, October 14.
Chasing 121 runs, KL Rahul guided India to victory with an unbeaten 58 off 108 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Rahul shared a 79-run second-wicket partnership with Sai Sudharsan (39). The second Test match dragged into the fifth day morning session due to the resistance from the West Indies batters.
India Equal South Africa’s Record for Most Consecutive Test Series Wins
India have secured their 10th consecutive Test series win against the West Indies, equaling South Africa’s record of 10 series wins against the same opponents from 1998 to 2024.
India also extended their unbeaten streak against the Men in Maroon to 27 Test matches. The team has consistently outperformed the West Indies, especially at home, where the visitors have lost all six of their most recent Tests.

First India vs West Indies Test to Reach Fifth Day Since 2011
Notably, it was the first Test between India and the West Indies to go into the fifth day since 2011. The chase lasted just about an hour in the morning session, but the West Indies displayed unexpected resistance throughout the game.
India secured a 2-0 series win under Shubman Gill, who captained the team in his first home Test series. The victory reflected a balanced team effort, with both batting and bowling units performing consistently across the two matches.
Indian bowlers claimed all 40 West Indies wickets, with pacers and spinners showing patience on slower tracks. The batting lineup contributed five centuries. It is worth mentioning that the team also bolstered their chances in the 2025-27 World Test Championship.
India posted a massive total in 1st innings
India posted a massive total of 518/5 before declaring in their first innings. In response, the visitors were bowled out for just 248, giving India a 270-run lead. Captain Shubman Gill enforced the follow-on, hoping his bowlers could capitalize on the advantage.
The West Indies showed fighting spirit in their second innings. John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) scored centuries, while Justine Graves (50) and Jayden Seales (32) added a 79-run partnership for the 10th wicket.
After resuming post-lunch on Day 4, the Indian bowlers regained control, triggering a collapse that saw the West Indies bowled out for 390 in the second innings, despite having been 271/3 at one stage.
