After arriving in Chennai for their next ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight match against Zimbabwe, India focused on keeping the training intensity high. Fielding coach T Dilip said that he likes to test the team’s energy early in sessions by creating competition, while praising the players for their intensity.
India will face Zimbabwe in a crucial Super Eight match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday, February 26. Both teams head into the contest under pressure after suffering heavy defeats in their opening Super Eight games. This match is important for both teams to keep their tournament hopes alive.
Make Sure That There’s a Competition at First - T Dilip
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on its official website, T Dilip spoke about maintaining high standards during training. He encouraged anyone keen on extra work to approach him directly.
"Whenever I feel a vibe needs to be checked, so I make sure that there's a competition at first, rather than the last. Very well done, I like the intensity. I'll be around, just make sure that whoever wants to get some, please come to me. Well done," T Dilip said.

Tension Reportedly Brews Inside Indian Camp After Loss
According to RaySportz, tension has surfaced inside the Indian camp after the recent loss. During a training session, head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen visibly angry and scolding the players.
Gambhir was also spotted having a serious conversation with opener Abhishek Sharma inside the team bus after India arrived in Chennai on Monday. The coach appeared animated, although the exact subject of the discussion remains unknown.
The two were seated just behind the driver and spoke closely while other players boarded the bus. Abhishek has struggled in the tournament, registering three ducks and a highest score of 15, and it is believed that his poor form has added pressure on both the batter and the coach.
India’s Semi-Final Qualification Scenarios in T20 World Cup 2026
India, led by Suyakumar Yadav, are third in Super Eight Group 1 of the T20 World Cup 2026 with zero points and a net run rate of -3.800. They must also rely on results from other matches to stay in contention.
If India win both of their remaining matches and South Africa also win their remaining games, India will qualify without net run rate coming into play.
If South Africa lose to the West Indies but beat Zimbabwe, three teams will finish on four points. Net run rate would then decide the top two, and India would need big-margin wins in their remaining matches to stay ahead.
If India fail to win by large margins, net run rate is likely to work against them. India will know exactly what they need in their final match, but they must win and win big to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
