The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is reportedly planning to rename the Test series between India and England. England and India will honor legends Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson with a new trophy named after them, and the winner between the two nations will be awarded it.
The Pataudi Trophy, which was named in honor of Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, is set to be retired. In March, the ECB informed the Pataudi family of their decision to discontinue the trophy. They want the current generation of fans to relate to the Test series more.
India-England Test Series to be Named After Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the BCCI is unlikely to object to the proposed name change for the India-England Test series trophy, as it honors the most capped players from both nations.
“With the premise that the trophy, be named after most capped players, the BCCI may not have any problems. Besides, it is the prerogative of the ECB,” a BCCI official said.
Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson are well-respected figures in cricket. Sachin Tendulkar received India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, in 2014, after ending his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Anderson was recently knighted in former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours list.

James Anderson, on the other hand, is known as one of the best swing bowlers of all time. With 704 Test wickets, he holds the record for the most wickets by a fast bowler. Overall, he ranks third behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. Anderson’s longevity has made him a special figure in cricket.
Their rivalry on the field was intense but respectful. Anderson dismissed Tendulkar nine times but has called him the best batsman he has ever bowled to.
