The war of words has already begun between Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer even before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia. Notably, the former Indian batter Jaffer and former England captain Vaughan are known for their battles on social media, where they often engage in a war of words.
They never miss a single chance to troll each other publicly on social media. Michael Vaughan's and Wasim Jaffer's social media game is always on point, and now they clashed even before India's opening game of the upcoming high-voltage five-match Test series against Australia.

However, whether England plays India or not, whenever the Indian cricket team is in action, Vaughan always counterattacks Jaffer, and their hilarious war becomes the center of attraction for the fans, and the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is no different.
Actually, before the start of the first Test in Perth on Friday, November 22, Wasim Jaffer said that the Australia cricket team will be under pressure, not India, despite the tourists coming into the high-stakes Test series on the back of a humiliating whitewash at the hands of New Zealand at home.
As the Indian cricket team set to take on Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 opener on Friday, all eyes are on the cricketing giants to bounce back after a 0-3 Test series loss to New Zealand at home. Many claim that the pressure is on India, but Jaffer feels Australia has much more to prove in the upcoming Test series.

Jaffer has pointed out India’s remarkable record against Australia, both at home and on their turf to prove his point. The Indian cricket team has clinched the last two Test series in Australia, giving them a psychological edge ahead of the Perth Test.
Wasim Jaffer posted on X: “I think there's more pressure on Aus than Ind. Aus hasn't beaten Ind in 10 years. They lost back to back at home. If they lose one more, heads are going to roll. They've few aging superstars who won't get another crack at Ind if they lose. India has nothing to lose.”

However, Michael Vaughan suggested that India’s recent whitewash at home could add to their woes, as they have not been in their best form in Test cricket lately. With history, pride, and redemption on the line, Vaughan took a brutal dig at India and Jaffer by saying they can’t afford another whitewash in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.

The verbal war between Jaffer and Vaughan has added to the buzz surrounding the BGT 2024-25 series opener in Perth, where Jasprit Bumrah will lead India in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who will join the Test squad before the Adelaide Test against Australia. Rohit is currently on paternity leave after becoming a father of a baby boy.
