Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has called India’s victory in the 2nd Test against England an epic triumph. The former Pakistani bowler said that Virat Kohli and company made the home team cry at Lord’s with a superb bowling attack. Setting up a target of 272 runs for England in the 2nd innings, Indian bowlers restricted them to just 120 all-out, clinching a 151-run victory in the match.
Mohammed Siraj scalped 4 wickets in the 2nd innings, while Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami picked 3, 2, and 1 wicket respectively to crush England in the match. Earlier, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had also smacked an astonishing partnership of 89 runs for the 9th wicket, rescuing India from a miserable score of 209-8 at one stage.
India Has Made England Cry At Lord’s: Danish Kaneria
Speaking about the India vs England match on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria hailed India for their superb bowling show at Lord’s against the home side.
“It looked as if England would bat out the remaining two sessions, but the Indian bowling was absolutely superb. This is India’s third win at Lord’s after 1986 and 2014, and has been an epic victory by 151 runs. They have made England cry,” Danish Kaneria said.
Danish Kaneria also heaped praises on Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah for their spectacular knocks with the bat as tailenders.
“England took a lead of 27 runs and made a strong comeback in the game. But India undid all their hard work, and the credit goes to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Bumrah made a vital 34, and Shami scored a brilliant 56, and their partnership made England feel helpless,” Danish Kaneria further added.
KL Rahul was adjudged player of the match for his century, which he scored in the 1st innings. With the Lord’s victory, Virat Kohli and boys have earned 14 points in ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 points table and hold the 2nd spot after West Indies.
India also leads the 5-match Test series against England 1-0, after the 1st drawn Test. India and England will now lock horns in the 3rd Test at Headingley in Leeds. The Test encounter is slated to begin on August 25 (Wednesday).
