The BCCI has revealed India’s women’s squad for the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa. Fast bowlers Renuka Singh Thakur, Pooja Vastrakar, and Titas Sadhu have been ruled out of the series due to injuries, as confirmed by the BCCI in the press release.
Harmanpreet Kaur is set to captain the women’s cricket team in the upcoming ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka. She returned to the team after missing the earlier home series against Ireland. The selectors have opted for a mix of seasoned players and rising talent, with national call-ups for WPL 2025 performers.
India Name 15-Member Squad for Women’s ODI Tri-Series
The selection committee has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming women’s ODI tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and South Africa, scheduled from April 27 to May 11 in Colombo. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side, with Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain.
The tournament will begin with the Women in Blue taking on hosts Sri Lanka in the opening match on April 27 at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Each team will play four games in a double round-robin format, with the top two advancing to the final on May 11.
All matches in the series will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium. For the Women in Blue, the series will also serve as crucial preparation for the ICC Women’s World Cup later this year.
Kashvee Gautam, N Shree Charani Earn Maiden India Call-Ups
Sneh Rana, Yastika Bhatia, Arundhati Reddy, and Amanjot Kaur have returned to the setup. However, Shafali Verma has not been included, despite an impressive WPL 2025 campaign. The opening batter amassed 304 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 152.76, finishing fourth on the run-scorers list.
Kashvee Gautam, N Shree Charani, and Shuchi Upadhyay have received their maiden national call-ups. Kashvee was the leading Indian wicket-taker in WPL 2025 with 11 scalps. Charani took four wickets in just two games for Delhi Capitals.
Meanwhile, Shuchi was named Player of the Tournament as Madhya Pradesh clinched the title at the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy. She finished with 18 wickets at an economy of 3.48.
Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu Ruled Out of Tri-Series Due to Injuries
Renuka Singh Thakur was rested for the recent series against Ireland. She took 10 wickets in three matches during the ODI series against West Indies in December 2024 and was named Player of the Series.
Pooja Vastrakar, Titas Sadhu, and Shreyanka Patil have also been ruled out of the upcoming tri-series due to injuries. They were not considered for selection by the BCCI.
"Renuka Singh Thakur & Titas Sadhu are injured and were not considered for the selection," a BCCI statement said.
