India team snubs handshakes to winners Pakistan once again in the Asia Cup
PC: X

The Pakistan Shaheens defeated the India A side after all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat's stunning all-round performance was on show. Indians once again snubbed their rivals of a handshake after the match ended.

Unlike India's single-sided dominance in the Asia Cup, the Pakistan Shaheens, the second-tier team for Pakistan, have made a convincing start to their Asia Cup Rising Stars campaign with a dominating performance against India A in the second match of the tournament.

Though India is still holding onto their hopes to qualify for the Super-4 of the tournament with a win over Oman in the final group-stage game, it would eagerly wait for their second face-off against Pakistan in the Super-4 stages to avenge their defeat from the group stages.

Handshake snub continues between India-Pakistan players in Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship

The Indian players started the controversial snub of handshakes from the Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan. The archrival nations did not indulge in actions that met the spirit of the gentleman's game.

The handshake snub continued in the 2025 Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament as well, when the Pakistan players won the match, and the Indian fielders left the field immediately without lining up for the handshakes.

Pakistan players walked back to their dugout and were seen celebrating with utmost joy, as they defeated the Indian side in the tournament, which seemed a huge accomplishment for them.

Maaz Shadaqat stuns with all-round brilliance

Maaz Shadaqat might have been handed the Player of the Match award, but it could easily be noted that he was Pakistan's single-handed star in the game. Though Pakistan bowlers contributed significantly alongside the all-rounder's 2-wicket economical spell, he was undoubtedly their best man with the willow.

With an unbeaten 79*, he guarded the Pakistan innings off to a win in just 13.2 overs, with 40 balls remaining. The batter was dropped twice by the Indian fielders, first by Nehal Wadhera and then by Vaibhav Suryavanshi after his half-century.

Some of the Pakistan cricket analysts have dared to say that the Asia Cup Rising Stars is a classic between next-generation stars from the IPL and the PSL. They have claimed that in this aspect, PSL is way ahead, and players like Maaz Shadaqat are their future stars.

Pakistan Shaheens lead Group B table with 2 consecutive wins

Pakistan Shaheens are the most dominating side on display in this Asia Cup Group B. They won two matches and have made their way into the Super-4 stage ahead of India A.

India A are yet to win their second match and are destined to be second in the points table, as Shaheens are expected to have an upper hand over the UAE.

Shaheens started off with a massive, dominant victory over Oman and backed it with another 8-wicket, dominant win over India A.

On the other hand, Afghanistan A and Bangladesh A won their first games from Group A. Afghanistan A are the defending champions of the Asia Cup Rising Stars.
