The Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak has showered rich praise on his captain Shreyas Iyer amid the buzz over the Mumbaiker taking over as India’s ODI captain. Shreyas Iyer was recently overlooked for the Asia Cup 2025, but he is reportedly in line to replace Rohit Sharma.

Iyer continues to prove why he is one of the most exciting captains in the world, and many felt the Indian middle-order batter deserves to lead the Indian cricket team in the international arena. Under his captaincy, Delhi Capitals made it to the finals, and then he led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third IPL triumph in 2024.

And earlier this year, Iyer captained Punjab Kings (PBKS) to the IPL 2025 finals, losing the trophy to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The way the Mumbaiker leads his teams in the IPL and domestic cricket from the front gives comfort, confidence, and authority to his players, which brings the best out of them; it impressed one and all.

Recently, Vijaykumar Vyshak shared his experience of playing under Shreyas Iyer for the PBKS in the IPL 2025. The fast bowler highlighted Iyer’s success in the last two IPL seasons as captain and called him one of the most influential captains of the modern-day game.

Vijaykumar Vyshak was quoted as saying by Sports Yari, “Shreyas Iyer is an outstanding captain. In the last two seasons as a captain, he has led a team to a title once and taken another team to the final in another season in the world’s biggest league. This clearly shows that there is something special about him.”

Vyshak credited Iyer for boosting his confidence on the field, turning every bowling spell into a learning opportunity.

Iyer’s leadership has left a lasting impact on the Karnataka bowler, who says the PBKS skipper’s aura and attitude create an environment where players grow and perform at their best. He also feels lucky to have been part of the Punjab Kings led by Iyer.

He signed off by saying, “The confidence he gives me while I’m bowling is truly inspiring. Whether on the field or in the dressing room, I have learned a lot from interacting with him. The way he goes about his batting and the way he carries Aura on and off the field—there is so much to learn. I feel really fortunate that I could be a part of Shreyas Iyer's Punjab team.”
