The India A squad is reportedly set to leave for England on May 25, the same day as the final of the ongoing IPL 2025. While the selectors are yet to announce the squad, the BCCI has already started travel arrangements for the tour.

The A squad is scheduled to play three unofficial Tests against England Lions. The series is scheduled to get underway on May 30 in Canterbury. On the other hand, Team India's five-match Test series against England is scheduled to be played from June 20.

BCCI makes arrangements for mid-IPL departure

While the IPL will still be on when the players start departing for England, only those players will be on the flight who will not be featuring in the IPL knockouts, according to a report in The Times of India.

The rest of the players will join the squad in England only when they are done with their commitment for the IPL teams.

Meanwhile, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has already identified a pool of players for the forthcoming series.

The BCCI has reached out to those players and their passports, jersey sizes have been collected by the logistics team.

Team India players keen on playing in unofficial Tests

While the A players are set to leave for England by May 25, the players who will be featuring in the five-match Test series against England are expected to leave only in the first week of June.

The report further added that a number of Indian players have expressed their desire of playing in the unofficial Tests to prepare for the Test series.

The news outlet has claimed that some of the senior players of the team want to play in one of the unofficial Tests, not the intra-squad game.

BCCI has reasons to block unofficial Tests

However, their participation in the unofficial Tests will depend on how far their respective team goes in the ongoing IPL. It would also depend on the necessary clearances from the medical team.

As India are scheduled to play 5 Tests in England, the BCCI does not want to risk the players' fitness.

There is also a possibility of sending the players in batches in the first week of June. Last year, the players had left in batches for the tour of Australia. A similar arrangement could be in place for the upcoming tour as well.
