India will face the challenge of the UAE in the second match of the Asia Cup 2025. This article provides details about India's Playing 11 vs UAE for the second match of the tournament.
India Playing 11 vs UAE- Asia Cup 2025, Match 2:
Openers: Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma
India, the defending champions of the Asia Cup, will begin their 2025 Asia Cup campaign against the United Arab Emirates and would want to continue from where they left the last edition in 2023.
One of the things that has been prominent in T20I cricket in the recent past is the liking of the teams to have depth in the batting lineup.
Following the same pattern, India is also expected to go in the match with batting at least till number eight, which means that they might go with two fast bowling all-rounders in the form of Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube.
If we start with the top, then Shubman Gill is certain to open with Abhishek Sharma being the vice captain of the team.
The duo would be entrusted with the responsibility of getting the team off to a good start in the first six overs.
Individually also both Shubman and Abhishek will look to play their natural game with field restrictions in play.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel
The openers will be followed by a power-packed middle order with Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube making the core of India's batting
Every batter from number three to seven can bat in any position, which provides much-needed flexibility to India in this format of the game.
The Men in Blue look like a settled unit and have covered all their bases. The only decision that the team management and the captain have to make before the game is who will keep wickets.
It will be a toss-up between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma, with Sanju expected to pip Jitesh because of his performances in the past.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah
The Men in Blue are expected to go with a spin-heavy bowling lineup, including only one specialist fast bowler, in their opening match of the tournament against the UAE.
The reason is the nature of the wicket at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the venue for this particular match, which has traditionally been conducive to spin and is expected to be the same.
It would be interesting to see how many spinners the captain Suryakumar Yadav decides to go in with in the game.
Ideally, a minimum of three should make the cut, with all three Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav included in the XI, with Axar extending the batting while Varun and Kuldeep will bring variety to the lineup.
As far as the team's fast bowling department is concerned, it is in all likelihood will be handled by Jasprit Bumrah with Hardik Pandya being the fast bowling all-rounder.
