Indian pacer Avesh Khan has suffered a vicious blow on his left hand during his second spell in the ongoing warm-up game at Chester-le-Street in Durham.

Avesh Khan is featuring for the County Select XI in the three-day practice game against the Indians.

The injury to Khan happened on the fifth ball of the 35th over when Hanuma Vihari drilled a fullish length delivery straight to Avesh Khan.

The ball struck Avesh Khan on his left thumb and he was immediately seen grimacing in extreme pain.

Nevertheless, Khan left the field with the Indian physio shortly afterward and his over was eventually completed by Craig Miles.

The warm-up game has proved to be a disaster for Avesh Khan thus far.

The Madhya Pradesh pacer, who is one of the standby players in the Indian contingent, endured a poor outing as he was taken for plenty by the Indian batters, especially Mayank Agarwal.

Khan was guilty of either bowling too short or too full and the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul took full toll.

Avesh sent down a total of 9.5 overs in which he conceded as many as 41 runs.

That said, the Indians are finding it tough against the County Select XI in their first innings.

After having lost three top-order wickets in the form of Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara for the score of 80 in the morning session, they have now lost Hanuma Vihari, who, in an attempt to loft Patterson-White, ended up hitting it straight to Craig Miles at wide mid-off.
