India T20I Squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (28th August) announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Suryakumar Yadav will be captaining the team, while pace sensation Mayank Yadav has received his maiden call-up.

India will be taking on Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series. The first game of the series will be played on 6th October in Gwalior, followed by the second game to be played on 9th October in New Delhi. The last game of the series will be played in Hyderabad on 12th October.

Test players have been rested ahead of the hectic schedule and the squad has seen some of the players earning a recall into the team. Abhishek Sharma, who missed the Sri Lanka T20Is has been included in the team, along with Rinku Singh while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been dropped from the side.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been one of the consistent performers for the team, and his not making a cut into the T20I squad comes as a massive surprise. He also had a terrific outing with the bat in the Duleep Trophy 2024 and it was expected he would be in the team.

Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2021, has been recalled into the team. He has been a consistent performer for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, and it was expected that he would be in the team anytime soon.

Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two keeper-batters that were picked by BCCI in the Indian team for the three-match T20I series. It was expected that Ishan Kishan would be making his return, as various reports suggested that too, but it wasn't the case as he is still on the sidelines, having being terminated from the BCCI's contract.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been drafted into the team. He was named in the Indian team for the five-match series against Zimbabwe. But at the last minute, he was ruled out as he faced an injury, and Shivam Dube was included in his place.

BCCI has named a host of all-rounders in the team as well. Hardik Pandya, along with Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar, are also in the team. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi also features in the 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

Along with Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana also has been included in the team. Singh will be leading the pace bowling attack along with two young fast bowlers. The trio might be core for the team for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be a home World Cup.
