Australia to replace Deepti Sharma in the London Spirit Squad

Deepti Sharma has been playing in the special tournament 'The Hundred', a 100-ball innings game organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Deepti Sharma has had a significant impact in the competition for the London Spirit. However, her absence from the upcoming season of The Hundred implies that currently, there are no Indian players under contract for this season.

She has been replaced by Australian all-rounder Charli Knott, as the Spirit's squad will certainly look different this year. The 22-year-old Australian brings along an experience of 59 matches in the Women's Big Bash League. Last time around, she represented the Southern Brave in The Hundred Women 2024.

Charlie Dean will be the skipper in the absence of injured Heather Knight. Meg Lanning has also been replaced by Australian Grace Harris.

London Spirit's goodbye note to the India Star

Deepti Sharma clinched the maiden 'The Hundred Women' title for London Spirit with a straight six in the 2024 final at Lord's. Considering her busy international calendar, she has opted to pull out of her £36,000 contract.

"Deepti will always have a special place in Spirit history, having produced the team's most iconic moment when she struck the ball over long-on for six to secure our first The Hundred title last summer," the franchise issued the statement.

"She starred with bat and ball throughout the tournament and was the highest-ranked Spirit player in the MVP standings—we hope to be able to welcome her back to Lord's in future years," added the franchise.
