India have retained the same squad for the Kanpur Test and haven't made any changes from the one that was selected for Chennai. While Rohit Sharma is the team's captain, there is still no vice-captain.
Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are the two wicketkeepers in the squad with Pant likely to keep his place after his outstanding performance in Chennai. Pant scored 39 in the first innings and then scored an aggressive 108 in the second innings.
Will Yash Dayal make a Test debut in Kanpur?
The four fast bowlers for Chennai have been retained and it might be an indication that the pitch in Kanpur might be helpful for the seamers as well. While there is no change in the pace bowling line-up, it is expected that India might rest Jasprit Bumrah ahead of a busy Test season. It means that Yash Dayal could be in for a potential debut.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to be the frontline spinners with Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav being in the squad as well.
The batting order remains the same as well and it is likely to be unchanged. While Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja had a great time with the bat, the other batters in the squad will also be looking to get amongst the runs.
The eyes will be on the veteran batter Virat Kohli, who was disappointing with the bat in both the innings. Kohli was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud in the first innings and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the second innings. He will be under immense pressure to perform.
KL Rahul did not have a great outing with the bat in the first innings and did not get enough opportunity to bat in the second innings. Rahul is likely to keep his place which means that Sarfaraz Khan is not likely to be in the Playing XI.
