With the Indian team set to travel to the United Kingdom on the 2nd of June, the quarantine and testing processes have already begun. The 20-man squad will travel to England to engage in the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand, followed by a five-match Test rubber against the Englishmen. Accordingly, Indian captain Virat Kohli and the rest of the Mumbai lads are isolating separately and doing the required things to keep themselves fit.

The BCCI had already remarked that players have to assemble in Mumbai on the 19th of May after undergoing three RT-PCR tests at their homes and returning negative tests. All the members have to serve a 14-day quarantine as well before leaving for the United Kingdom on the 2nd of June. The Indian cricket board also clarified that if any player tests positive in Mumbai before departing for the UK, the entire tour stands cancelled.

A source revealed that Virat Kohli and the rest of the team members who recently entered the bubble will not mix with those who are already within it. They would perform a seven-day quarantine and join the group before leaving for England. Hence, till that time, all will have to do the necessary activities within the confines of their rooms only, with arrangements already in place for workouts.

“Kohli and the rest of the team members who entered the bubble will not straight away mix with those who are already in the bubble. They will do a seven-day quarantine and then join the group before leaving for England. Till then, they will have all the necessary facilities in their rooms only. Arrangements have been made so they could train in their room. Cycles, dumbbells and bars have all been arranged for in the rooms so they don’t need to walk out and can stay in shape,” the source claimed as per ANI.

The source also highlighted that all the cricketers will undergo COVID-19 tests every day as they don’t wish to keep anything to chance. Furthermore, the United Kingdom’s health department will monitor the second dose of the vaccine after the players took the first jab in India itself.

“They will undergo tests every day. We don’t wish to keep anything to chance. The team has already taken the first dose here after the government opened the vaccination process for all above 18. The second dose will be administered by the UK health department once the players are eligible to get the second jab as per the rules,” it added.
