The India national cricket team will have another international tour added to their packed 2026 calendar, according to a recent report from Cricbuzz. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Ireland are finalizing the details for a two-match white-ball series scheduled for late June in Dublin.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led squad recently secured a victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with a win over New Zealand in the final in Ahmedabad. Notably, the Men in Blue will host Afghanistan for a multi-format series in June 2026, featuring one Test and three ODIs from June 6 to 20 across four venues.
India to Tour Ireland for T20I Series Amid Packed 2026 Schedule
According to Cricbuzz, the two matches between India and Ireland are likely to be played in the T20I format. The T20 World 2026 champions will tour Ireland between their existing bilateral commitments against the Afghanistan national cricket team and the away tour against the England national cricket team.
The Men in Blue will conclude their home series against Afghanistan on June 20. Following the Ireland series, the squad will travel to Chester-le-Street to face England, starting on July 1 for five T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals.
The BCCI had hinted at this schedule addition to players and support staff during the recent NAMAN Awards in New Delhi. While the Men in Blue have usually played three matches during recent visits to Ireland, finding a window in the calendar remains difficult.
Ireland Look to Bounce Back After Disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 Campaign
Ireland had a disappointing group-stage exit during the T20 World Cup 2026. They suffered early defeats against the Sri Lanka national cricket team and the Australia national cricket team before attempting a late comeback.
Although the Ireland national cricket team managed to thrash the Oman national cricket team during the group stage, their final match against the Zimbabwe national cricket team was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
They will be hoping to improve their overall form against the visiting India national cricket team. Notably, Ireland skipper Paul Stirling stepped down from the T20I captaincy following disappointing performances in the T20 World Cup.
Ireland’s Busy Future Tours Programme
Cricket Ireland has also outlined its Future Tours Programme schedule for next summer. Their upcoming international commitments include hosting the New Zealand national cricket team for a one-off Test before preparing to face multiple Asian opponents across various limited-overs formats.
Ireland are also scheduled to host the Bangladesh national cricket team and the Afghanistan national cricket team for extensive series. Cricket Ireland must confirm the final dates within the next week, as logistical challenges mean some of those initial fixtures remain in doubt.
Meanwhile, the BCCI continues working to add more fixtures to India’s already packed 12-month calendar. The World Cup-winning Indian side is expected to play additional series across the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, and Japan during the highly anticipated Asian Games.
