Rohit Sharma's team India will be traveling to South Africa later this year for a 4-match T20I series, starting from November 8th, the CSA and BCCI confirmed.

The Indian team had traveled to South Africa for an all-format tour in late 2023, right after India's home 5-match T20I series against Australia. The series against the Baggy Greens had taken place after the visitors defeated the hosts in the ICC Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad.

India and South Africa's bilateral series' have always given us countless moments to remember. The last series between them, for instance, was a fantastic one to watch. It provided the fans with never seen before things, especially in the 2-match Test series in Centurion and Cape Town.

The 1st Test was won by South Africa by an innings and 32 runs, thanks to their mammoth 1st innings total which was made possible by Dean Elgar's 185. The 2nd Test on the other hand was won by India in yet another one-sided affair. The Test match, in fact, was a very interesting one.

It was one of the shortest ever Test matches played between two teams since the origin of Test cricket 147 years ago. The Test match had lasted for only four-and-a-half sessions and finished within just 2 days. Had India won the 1st Test match as well, they would have become the first Indian side to claim a red-ball series win at the Rainbow nation.

Before the Test series, India and South Africa had played a 3-match T20I and ODI series. The shortest format series finished at 1-1 whereas the 50-over series was won by the Men in Blue which marke only the second time that an Indian team won an ODI series there.

India tour of South Africa 2024 schedule announced

Something similar can be expected when two of world's biggest cricket teams lock horns against each other in a full fledged white-ball series. Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the dates of the series in late 2024.

The 1st T20I of the 4-match series will take place on Friday, November 8th at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The 2nd match will take place 2 days after on November 10th, Sunday at the Dafabet St. George's Park in Gqeberha. The 3rd and 4th T20Is will be held on 13th and 15th at the SuperSport Park in Centurion and the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

These are going to be the 4 iconic venues wherein India and South Africa will fight it out for the KFC T20I series. If things go as planned, then Gautam Gambhir will be touring the Rainbow Nation for the first time as the head coach of Indian team. Gambhir is expected to replace Rahul Dravid by the end of this month, after the conclusion of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in USA & West Indies.
