The series against Sri Lanka marks the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket. The tour will mark the team’s tenure under the new head coach. Recently, Gautam Gambhir was given the role and BCCI mentioned that he will be taking charge of the team in the Sri Lanka series.

This will be the first time since 2021 that India will be playing in Sri Lanka. The last time Men in Blue went to the island nation, they played 4 T20Is and 3 ODIs. It was a young India team that won the T20I series but lost the 50-over series.

Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli likely to be rested for the Sri Lanka series

India no doubt will be having the young team in the T20I series. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from the shortest format of the game. It is expected that a new leader will be in charge and various reports have suggested about Hardik Pandya leading the team.

On the other hand for the ODI series, it is learned that Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli are likely to be rested. Therefore it is expected that KL Rahul might be leading the team, which various reports have suggested too.

India has a great record in the Sri Lanka conditions and they would be keen to continue that. New head coach Gautam Gambhir would also be keen to mark his tenure on high and take the team to glory in both formats.
