India U19 Squad For ICC U19 World Cup 2024 And Tri-Series In South Africa Announced

On Tuesday, December 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India U19 squad for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024. The Punjab Cricket Association player Uday Saharan has been named captain and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association player Saumy Kumar Pandey will serve as his deputy.

The same India U19 squad will compete in a tri-series ahead of the competition. The tri-series will be played between India, England and South Africa. The series will commence on December 29 and the final is set to be on January 10, 2024.

After that, the teams will take part in a few warm-up matches before the main ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024 competition. The competition is set to be hosted by South Africa in January and February. The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024, which will be the fifteenth edition of the competition, is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 19.

Team India are the defending champions of the World Cup and they will begin their tournament with a match against 2020 winners Bangladesh in Bloemfontein on January 20. India, who are placed in Group A with Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA, will next lock horns with Ireland and the USA on 25th & 28th January respectively. The final of the marquee tournament will be played on February 11.

The Junior Selection Committee has picked a strong 15-man India U19 squad for the tri-series in South Africa and the ICC U19 World Cup 2024. The selection committee has also included three players as traveling standbys for the tri-series and along with that four backup players have been named.
