On the morning of August 27, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India Under-19 squad for the Australia U19 Men’s Tour of India. The India vs Australia series will be played through three One-Day matches and two Multi-Day fixtures.
Alongside the full squads for the two different formats of the U-19 series, the board has also published the detailed fixture of the contest, which will be played in Rajkot and Ahmedabad.
Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid’s sons will play together against Australia
In the newly named U-19 national team squad, the selectors have picked both Aaryavir Sehwag and Anvay Dravid. Aaryavir is the son of the former Team India opener Virender Sehwag, and Anvay is the son of the former Team India batter Rahul Dravid, who served as the national cricket team's head coach as well, guiding them to glory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Aaryavir and Anvay are selected for the India U-19 squad. While Aaryavir Sehwag is selected as a pure batter, Anvay Dravid is the second keeper-batter of the team.
Newly elected captains and vice-captains of the India U-19 teams
Lakshya Raichandani and Yashbardhan Chauhan have been handed the leadership roles for the upcoming series. Lakshya is named as the captain of the U-19 ODI team and vice-captain for the U-19 Multi-Day team, while Yashbardhan is named as the vice-captain of the India U-19 ODI team and captain of the multi-day format team.
Expectations will be high for the age division side, as from here players like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre have climbed up the ranks in recent times. Under the leadership of Ayush Mhatre, India won the ICC Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 by defeating England by 100 runs in the final on February 6, 2026, at Harare Sports Club.
Needless to say, for years the U-19 teams have remained a crucial part of the Indian cricket ecosystem, from where players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and even Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have emerged.
