Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed to host India for a three-match series in India. It will be the first time that an overseas cricket board hosts the Indian National Cricket Team on Indian soil. On the evening of August 11, the bilateral series between Afghanistan and India has been confirmed.
ACB is all set to host the Indian cricket team in Delhi, with all of the matches to be played at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium. There will be three T20Is in the series, starting on September 13, followed by the second and third matches on September 15 and September 17, respectively. After weeks of speculation, the 3-match T20I series is confirmed after the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) final nod.

Afghanistan Cricket Board confirms the series through an official letter
Assessing the Afghanistan Cricket Board's formal letter to the commercial partners, Cricbuzz on Tuesday informed that the entire dates and the venue for the series are officially finalised after the confirmations from the Indian cricket governing board.
"The ACB hereby confirms that the India tour of Afghanistan 2026 (Event) is scheduled to take place from September 13 to September 17. The ACB further confirms that the dates of the Event have been confirmed and agreed with the BCCI and the venues of the scheduled matches have also been finalised," said ACB CEO Naseeb Khan.
Announcement in the public domain is yet to be made
The letter issued by ACB was to inform all the stakeholders and the concern authorites in advance so the required arrangements could be made with enough time on hand. The letter also clarified that the public announcement was yet to be made.
"While an official public announcement regarding the event is yet to be made by the concerned authorities, the ACB is issuing this letter as an official confirmation of the scheduled dates and venues of the India tour of Afghanistan 2026. Accordingly, all media rights holders may proceed with their planning, scheduling and production arrangements, resource allocation, promotional activities and other related preparations based on the above schedule," the letter further reads.
No hope remains for Bangladesh to host India?
As ACB is confirmed to host India for a 3-match series from September 13 to September 17 as a part of India's tour of Afghanistan, the space for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to host the Indian cricket team for a bilateral series decreases automatically.
Cricbuzz, in the report, claimed that BCB aimed for the September 1 to 13 window for a six-match white-ball series with India. Despite repeated conversations with BCCI and the governments of Bangladesh and India, Tamim Iqbal-led BCB's efforts to arrange a series with India are likely to be in vain amid the latest political developments after a virtual press conference of Shaikh Hasina.
