India vs England 2021: England Will Get Only Three Days To Train Before The First Test In Chennai

On Monday, the England team has won the Test series in Sri Lanka by clean sweeping the host in the 2-match series. Now, Joe Root and his men have their sights on the subcontinent giants, India, who themselves are coming off a historic Test series triumph in Australia.
While they have been playing cricket consistently since cricket resumed in the pandemic era, however, Joe Root would have wanted more time to train than they will get ahead of the series against Virat Kohli’s side.
According to a report in ‘The Telegraph’, England will get only three days to train before the first Test commences in Chennai on February 5. The Three Lions will fly to Chennai on Wednesday, and because of a six-day quarantine requirement upon landing, they will get just 3 days to do match training.
England rest three major players for the first two Tests against India
The England and Wales Cricket Board(ECB) have not included Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, and Mark Wood in the squad for the first two Tests in Chennai of the 4-match Test series. The 3 mentioned players played in Sri Lanka and are been given rest in accordance with the rotation policy inducted by the ECB keeping in mind the tight schedule where they are supposed to play about 17 Test matches in 12 months period.
On the other hand, three players who were rested from the Sri Lanka tour, namely Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Rory Burns return to the side to take on India. It is also reported that Jos Buttler will leave after the first Test in Chennai.
