India vs England Weather Report, Day 2 Of Leeds Test 2025

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul laid a solid foundation with a 91-run stand. Rahul was dismissed for 42 just before lunch, followed by debutant Sai Sudharsan’s four-ball duck, leaving India at 92/2.

However, Jaiswal and Shubman Gill added 129 runs for the third wicket. Jaiswal registered his first century in English conditions, scoring 101 off 159 balls before being bowled by Ben Stokes. Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant then formed an unbroken 138-run partnership.

Gill remained unbeaten on 127 in his first match as Test captain, while Pant contributed 65 runs off 102 balls. For England, Ben Stokes was the most successful bowler with two key wickets, while Brydon Carse dismissed Rahul.

Day 2 Weather Forecast: England vs India 1st Test at Headingley, Leeds

Weather conditions for Day 2 of the first Test are not looking promising. According to AccuWeather, the morning is expected to be sunny and warm, with temperatures around 28-29°C and only a 25% chance of rain. However, conditions are set to change as the day progresses.

There are chances of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, with the probability of precipitation at 86%. Cloud cover will hover around 45%, and humidity is expected to rise to 57%. The chance of thunderstorms is estimated at 31%.

In the evening, the chances of heavy thunderstorms and rain increase further. The probability of precipitation rises to 88%, humidity could reach 82%, and the temperature is expected to drop to around 15°C.

While the morning session of Day 2 might proceed without interruption, rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening pose a serious threat to uninterrupted play. With an overall 77% chance of rain for the day, weather could play a spoilsport in the first Test at Headingley.

India and England Begin New ICC World Test Championship Cycle

The first Test at Headingley is the beginning of a new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for India and England. Both teams will be eager to open this new chapter with a positive start after failing to advance to the WTC 2025 final.

Shubman Gill entered the match with doubts surrounding his record in overseas conditions. However, he silenced critics with a century on debut as captain. Rishabh Pant played a composed innings, balancing his natural aggression with controlled defence.
