The fifth and final Test match between India and England is evenly poised after two thrilling days of action at The Oval in London. Overcast conditions and rain breaks over the first two days created a tough challenge for batters, with swing and seam movement leading to 21 wickets so far in the ongoing match.

England were in control after the first session, taking four wickets. However, they lost momentum as Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj ran through England’s batting with four wickets apiece, bundling the hosts out for 247. India reached 75 for 2 in their second innings by stumps on Day 2, leading by 52 runs.

India Bounces Back After Early Collapse on Day 2 at The Oval

The visitors resumed on 213/6 but collapsed quickly on Day 2, losing their remaining wickets in just 34 deliveries to finish at 224. Gus Atkinson, returning from injury, starred with the ball for England, taking 5/33 to dismantle the lower order.

England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley added a 92-run partnership. Duckett looked dangerous with 43 before being dismissed by Akash Deep, who gave him a send-off.

However, the visiting bowlers fought back in the second session. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna each picked up four wickets to bowl England out for 247, handing the hosts a narrow 23-run lead.

Yashasvi Jaiswal then counterattacked with an unbeaten 51, guiding India to 75/2 at stumps. While England may hope for helpful overhead conditions, the weather on Day 3 might favor the batters.
