India needs special efforts to counter weather challenges at Old Trafford

But after that the weather is expected to remain dry but mostly cloudy for the rest of Day 4. Cloudy skies could pose trouble for India’s batters, especially with England’s swing bowlers ready to take advantage of the conditions at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

According to AccuWeather, cloud cover will stay heavy at around 77%, and the temperature is likely to drop to 20°C. There’s even a small 9% chance of thunderstorms at Old Trafford.

So, the brief rain might offer India some breathing space early on, but the cloudy and swinging conditions later in the day could make their second innings very challenging with the bat.

Nasser Hussain questions India’s late use of Washington Sundar on Day 3

Meanwhile, former England skipper Nasser Hussain has slammed India’s tactics on Day 3 of the fourth Test, especially the late decision to bring Washington Sundar into the attack. Sundar was introduced only in the 69th over, with England already strong at 305/2.

And Sundar made an instant impact after lunch by dismissing Ollie Pope for 71 and Harry Brook for just 3. Nasser Hussain wrote in his column for the Daily Mail: “It was astonishing. I haven't seen a spin bowler in England get such beautiful drift, even against the wind.

They completely overlooked bowling Washington Sundar… not turning to him until the 69th over when England was 305 for two. He made an impact the moment he was introduced… leaving you wondering, Where’s he been?”
