The Asian Legends League (ALL) is set to return for its second season, with several retired international cricketers for another exciting T20 tournament. Fans will once again witness iconic rivalries, including India and Pakistan legends facing each other on the field.
During the success of the inaugural 2025 edition, the Asian Stars defeated the Indian Royals in the final. Notably, the organisers expanded the tournament for Season 2. The competition will take place from July 30 to August 10 in Lusaka, Zambia, with six teams competing across 19 matches.
India, Pakistan Players Set to Share the Field Again
Indian Royals, Sri Lankan Lions, Bangladesh Tigers, Afghanistan Pathans, Pakistan Panthers, and Asian Stars will compete in the second season. The teams will play 15 league matches before the knockout stage, with the final scheduled for August 10 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Notably, the Indian Royals will face the Pakistan Panthers on Sunday, August 2. The fixture has grabbed significant attention as cricket ties between the two countries are limited because of ongoing political tensions.
The two sides have not shared the field since the controversial Asia Cup 2025, which ended with tensions between players and officials. In the Legends tournament last year, several Indian players, including Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Irfan Pathan, withdrew from a scheduled match against Pakistan.
Uncertainty remains over whether both teams will take the field for the much-awaited clash in the Asian Legends League. The organisers, however, have included the fixture in the official schedule for the second season.
Yusuf Pathan to Lead Star-Studded Indian Royals Squad
The Indian Royals have named a strong squad with former international stars. Former World Cup winner Yusuf Pathan will captain the team as they aim to win the Asian Legends League title in Zambia.
The squad features several well-known Indian cricketers, including Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, and Naman Ojha. Their experience and popularity are expected to add excitement to the tournament and attract cricket fans from across the world.
Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem have been included in the squad. Harbhajan, Yusuf Pathan, and Raina were among the Indian players who withdrew from a Legends League match against Pakistan, leaving their participation in the August 2 clash uncertain.
Mohammad Hafeez to Lead Pakistan Panthers Squad
The Pakistan Panthers have also named a strong squad for the tournament. Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will captain the side, which includes several experienced international players such as Shoaib Malik and former opening batter Sharjeel Khan.
The batting unit also features wicketkeeper-batters Umar Akmal and Kamran Akmal. Left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir, fast bowler Wahab Riaz, leg-spinner Yasir Shah, and veteran off-spinner Saeed Ajmal are included in the bowling attack.
On paper, Pakistan have one of the strongest squads in the competition. If the India-Pakistan match goes ahead as scheduled, fans around the world will get the chance to watch one of cricket's biggest rivalries return with former international stars.
