India vs Pakistan ugly brawl reignites in Asia Cup Rising Stars
PC: X

Pakistani spinner Saad Masood struck for the first time against India A, as he dismissed Naman Dhir and was spotted giving him a fiery send-off. The Pakistan spinner seemed much agitated with the breakthrough.

The India-Pakistan controversies resurfaced as the two teams clashed for the first time on an international platform since the 2025 Asia Cup final. Though not the main teams, the clash was between India A and Pakistan Shaheens, the two participating teams in the ACC Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament.

The Asia Cup Trophy row remains unresolved, as does the tension between the two giants of the game. India and Pakistan's former cricketers were also not seen shaking hands or maintaining any friendly courtesy when they met in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

Saad Masood's ugly send-off to the Indian player reignites controversy

India A were once again propelled by the brilliance of 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had lit up the opening game of the tournament with a record-shattering 144 against UAE. The left-handed batter once again handed India a quick start, despite the surface being crumbly and offering immense help to the spinners.

Holding his shape and trusting his versatility with a wide array of shots, he contributed with a 49-run stand alongside Naman Dhir. Dhir too looked very composed at no. 3, as he played the Pakistan spinners with ease until the 9th over of the game.

Midway through the 9th over, a tossed-up delivery outside the off-stump line was unfortunately lofted straight into the hands of the extra-cover fielder by Dhir when he mishit an absolute sitter from spinner Saad Masood.

The off-spinner, however, looked much delighted with the dismissal and gave a fiery send-off to the Indian batter, asking him to get out with his long-stretched fingers pointing towards the dugout. Dhir did not escalate things, but looked surprised by the unwanted fury.

India A struggle with the bat against Pakistan Shaheens

After Dhir's wicket, India was 79/2, and then the massive collapse began. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for 45 from 28 balls, and Sufiyan Muqeem tricked him into getting out with all his experience.

After Suryavanshi's dismissal, India A went 29 balls searching for the boundary. All-rounder Maaz Sadaqat's quality left-arm spin tightened the screws up for the India A team.

Even the Indian captain, Jitesh Sharma, who came off a blistering 83-run knock, miscued a lofted attempt off his bowling, and Nehal Wadhera followed him after being stumped on a ball that drifted away.

The all-rounder himself finished with some remarkable figures of 2/12 in his 3 overs, while Shahid Aziz remained the pick of the bowlers, with 3/24 in his 3 overs. Masood had 2 scalps to his name, with all others picking a wicket each. India were bowled out for 136 without completing their quota of 20 overs.

Maaz Sadaqat's top knock earns an easy victory for Pakistan

On a surface where scoring runs seemed quite challenging, the Pakistan all-rounder came in with a second phase of brilliance. Maaz Sadaqat opened the innings, and from ball one, he seemed to have cleared his mind to attack the Indian bowlers.

Nehal Wadhera handed him another opportunity when he dropped him at the backward point, while the batter continued his onslaught on the Indian bowlers, especially Suyash Sharma. He was dropped again on 54 by Vaibhav Suryavanshi after top-edging Suyash Sharma.

Lastly, a major controversy erupted again when Jitesh Sharma even argued with the field umpire over a stunning effort from Nehal Wadhera. The umpire did not rule it as a six nor did he rule the batter out; rather, he considered it a dot ball. Sadaqat scored an unbeaten 79 and was announced the Player of the Match.
