Sri Lanka Need to Make Home Advantage Count
Sri Lanka are sixth in the WTC standings with a 41.67% points percentage. They have played only four Tests so far, winning one, losing one and drawing two. Their remaining eight matches include two against India, followed by away series against Pakistan and New Zealand and a home series against South Africa.
Sri Lanka need 67 more points to reach a 60% points percentage. Six wins from their remaining eight Tests would take them to that mark, while five wins and two draws would also be enough. They have little room for dropped points in the upcoming home series against India.
Six wins and two losses from their remaining matches would take Sri Lanka to 63.89%, while seven wins and one loss would raise their final percentage to 72.22%. With most of their remaining Tests still to come, Sri Lanka can make a strong push.
India Face Tough Challenge in Crucial WTC Test at Galle
The first Test will take place at the Galle International Stadium on Saturday, August 15. India and Sri Lanka have played five Tests at the venue, with the home team holding a 3-2 advantage. However, India's most recent Test at Galle ended in a dominant 304-run victory in 2017.
