The second day of the Adelaide Test between Australia and India saw a fresh controversy unfolding as the Men in Blue were robbed of a crucial review. The incident happened late in the first session of Day 2 as Mitchell Marsh was facing Ravichandran Ashwin as third umpire Richard Kettleborough was in focus.

During the 58th over of the innings, Marsh walked down the pitch to Ashwin but couldn't reach the pitch of the ball. He looked to defend with the bat and pat close to each other. It wasn't clear whether the ball had hit the pad or the bat first and the umpire turned down India's appeal.

What was the incident?

Rohit Sharma decided to take the DRS against the on-field call. The third umpire looked at the replay multiple times before deciding to stay with the on-field decision. The third umpire wasn't sure whether the ball had hit the pad or the bat first and thus, decided to stay with the on-field decision.

However, the replays later suggested that the ball had hit the pad first before going on to hit the bat. Twitter was buzzing after the horror call from the third umpire and even argued how KL Rahul's decision was overturned in the previous Test without any conclusive evidence.

A similar incident from the last Test

While the decision would have remained not out even if Richard Kettleborough had gone with the ball-tracking, it wouldn't have robbed India of a review which could be vital later in the innings.

In the last Test, a similar incident happened when KL Rahul was given not out on-field but the decision was reversed even without any conclusive evidence by the third umpire.
