Bangladesh will be hosting the India Women’s National Cricket Team for a five-match T20I series in April and May 2024. The T20I series will be played after Bangladesh’s ODI and T20I series against Australia Women and playing a tough side like India will help them boost their preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be held in the country in October this year.

According to the BCB‘s draft itinerary, all matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium between April 28 and May 9. The Indian team will arrive on April 25 for the series, which is not part of the ICC Future Tour Programme.

Ahead of the India series, Bangladesh women’s cricket team will also play against Australia. The Australian team’s tour of Bangladesh will kickstart on March 21 and will end on April 4. Australia are scheduled to play a three-match T20I and a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

All of the Australia series games will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Some Australian players will come on March 16, while those participating in the current WPL will arrive on March 17, as per Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh Cricket Board head of women’s cricket Habibul Bashar, while speaking to Cricbuzz mentioned that the series against India and Australia will be a great preparation for Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup. The team will be looking forward to competing against both sides and achieving a positive result. If Bangladesh can beat both India and Australia, this will certainly boost the confidence of the players.

Habibul Bashar said, “I think this will be an opportunity for us to know where we stand ahead of the T20 World Cup by playing against Australia and India. We are looking forward to compete against them and if we can achieve a positive result, certainly it will boost the confidence of our team considering everyone knows the value of beating teams like India and Australia.”

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh women’s cricket team will begin their preparations for the forthcoming home series against Australia with a spin camp in Dhaka from February 28 to March 2. Later, they will hold a skill and fitness camp in Khulna from March 4 to 16.

India and Australia are among the top three teams in women’s cricket. Both teams have played in the final of the 2018 T20 World Cup and also the semi-final of the 2023 T20 World Cup. India have also qualified for the final of the ODI World Cup in 2017 and they have also shown brilliant cricket in the passing years.

With players such as Harmapreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Varma, and Deepti Sharma, the team is full of stars and will once again be the favorites when they walk into the T20 World Cup 2024.

India also toured Bangladesh in 2023, wherein they played a three-match T20I and a three-match ODI series. While the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side were able to win the T20I series by 2-1, the ODI series leveled at 1-1 as the last match of the series ended in a tie.
