India Women vs South Africa Women 2021, 2nd Women’s ODI: India Women Outclass The Visitors To Level The Series

India Women have made a great comeback in the ongoing home Women’s ODI series against South Africa Women after thrashing the visitors by 9 wickets in the second game of this series. Currently, this five-match ODI series is standing in the 1-1 position with three more matches to go.

India Women’s captain Mithali Raj chose to field first after winning the toss and it was a very good decision for the hosts who bundled out the in-form South Africa Women for 157 runs in 41 overs. In reply, India Women reached the target in 28.4 overs after losing only one wicket.

2nd innings (India Women): Smriti Mandhana and Punam Raut scored unbeaten 50s

Shabnim Ismail dismissed the opener Jemimah Rodrigues (9) at the very early stage of the second innings. But the other opener Smriti Mandhana and Punam Raut soon handled the situation very well and their century partnership only made the chase easier for the hosts.

They set up the unbroken second-wicket partnership of 138 runs as both Smriti and Punam scored half-centuries. While Smriti scored 80 not out off 64 balls (10 fours and 3 sixes), Punam scored 62 not out off 89 balls (8 fours). India Women chased down that target with 128 balls remaining.

1st innings (South Africa Women): Jhulan Goswami took 4 wickets

Pacer Jhulan Goswami provided a strong start for India Women as she dismissed the opener Lizelle Lee (4) on the sixth ball of the match. Mansi Joshi took the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt (9) in the sixth over of the match.

Then captain Sune Luus and Lara Goodall controlled the situation and set up the 60 runs partnership for the third wicket. But once Joshi took the wicket of Luus for 36 runs off 57 balls (5 fours), their next batters completely struggled as none of their next other new batters managed to reach the 20-run marks.

Goodall scored 49 runs off 77 balls (2 fours) before Harmanpreet Kaur bowled her in the only over of the match. Goswami and Rajeshwari Gayakwad dominated in the other half of that innings.

Jhulan Goswami finished that innings with the bowling figures of 10-0-42-4. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also took three wickets as she had bowling figures of 9-0-37-3. Mansi Joshi also managed the bowling figures of 7-1-23-2
