The BCCI was founded in the year 1928 when India were ruled by the British. The original BCCI logo has its roots in the 'Star of India' insignia, a symbol introduced during British colonial rule to honour Indian princes and elites. In a way, the BCCI logo or the Indian national cricket team's logo still has a connection with the country's colonial past.
The original logo featured a golden star encased within a radiant sunburst pattern - symbols of prestige, honour, and imperial heritage.
"Why the BCCI is still using the logo designed by British Raj in 1928 which resembles 90 per cent the symbol of star of India given by British Raj to his loyal princes...," Information Commissioner Sridhar Acharyulu said in the past.
Current BCCI Logo Highlights

Indian cricket team's current logo is just a refined and modernized version of the original logo.The golden star is at the center of the logo and sits on a sky blue background. It is encircled by a dark blue ring that contains the words 'BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA'. The ring is surrounded by golden sunburst.
