The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has reviewed India's loss to New Zealand in the three-match Test series at home. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that skipper Rohit Sharma, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny, all were in attendance.

The reports claimed that the BCCI officials questioned some of the tactics of team management during the series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was under the radar as the officials questioned team management decisions to pick rank turner for the Mumbai Test.

The Board of Control for Cricket India wasn't happy with the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the third Test

Not only this but the BCCI also wasn't happy with the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the third Test. The fast bowler played the first two games of the series but was released from the squad for the last game as the team management released the official statement, saying that the speedster hasn't recovered from the viral infection.

The reports claimed that BCCI officials along with the skipper Rohit Sharma, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir, who joined the meeting online, were involved in a 6-hour long meeting. This is because the governing body wanted to ensure that the team was right on the track on track going to Australia.

It was a six-hour marathon meeting, which was obviously on the cards after such a debacle - BCCI source

The source close to BCCI confirmed the developments and also mentioned that the governing body wants to take note of the think tank's thinking going into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Speaking to PTI, he explained:

"It was a six-hour marathon meeting, which was obviously on the cards after such a debacle. India is going on a tour of Australia, and the BCCI would like to ensure that the team is back on track and would like to know how the think-tank is going about it.

"Bumrah's absence was discussed although it was a precautionary move. Opting for a rank turner despite India not faring well on these tracks are some of the issues that came up for discussion."

Gautam Gambhir's coaching style was also discussed

It is also learned that Gautam Gambhir's coaching style was also discussed as, so far, it has seemed very different from his predecessor, Rahul Dravid, and how the team is getting used to it. The reports added that some members of the Indian team think tank aren't on the same page with the head coach.

The selections of all-rounder Nitish Reddy and pacer Harshit Rana, who only has played 10 matches in the Ranji Trophy, by Gautam Gambhir for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 reportedly hasn't impressed the Indian think tank.

The trio of Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar were also told to give suggestions on how corrective measures can be taken. It remains to be seen how the team makes a comeback from the setback that they faced against New Zealand.
