Meanwhile, taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday (November 8), Vaughan pointed out that the India vs Australia series has been competitive lately, but nothing matches the scale, tradition, and buildup of the iconic Ashes.

Vaughan posted, X: “No question the India v Aussie series of late down under have been more competitive... but don’t say they are bigger than an Ashes... the build-up down in Oz for this Ashes is absolutely huge... you don’t get that for an IND v Oz series...” #Fact #OnOn”

Well, the rivalry between India and Australia is one of the most exciting in world cricket. It became even more intense when Virat Kohli captained India, bringing a fearless and aggressive style to the team.

Today, fans love watching these two sides go head-to-head, especially in Test matches, where every session is full of tension, drama, and entertainment.

Michael Vaughan trolled for England’s poor record in Australia

Well, Vaughan’s comment didn’t go down well with the Indian fans, and now they have been trolling the Englishman by reminding him of England’s performance in Australia. Social media users quickly reminded him that England hasn’t been strong in Australia for over a decade.

England’s last Test win on Australian soil was back in January 2011, when they pulled off a memorable 3-1 series victory.

Since then, England has not won a single game in 13 matches Down Under. Their most recent tour in the 2021/22 season ended in a heavy 4-0 loss, which eventually led to Joe Root stepping down as England’s Test captain.

Michael Vaughan mocks Australia’s ageing squad ahead of Ashes 2025-26

Vaughan posted on X: “If ENG added Ian Botham & David Gower to their 2025/26 Ashes squad, the average age of the ENG squad would still be 135 days younger than the AUS squad.”

Australia squad for 1st Ashes Test: Steve Smith (c), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster
