Tensions are rising in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, as the Indian cricket team reportedly plans a bold stance against Pakistan and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Following their controversial handshake snub against Pakistan, India has now made a special plan for the final if they retain the trophy.
The Indian cricket team has reportedly decided that they will not share the presentation dais with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), if they win the Asia Cup 2025 final on September 28 in Dubai.
India plans to refuse to share the presentation dais with Mohsin Naqvi
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president is traditionally expected to present the winner’s trophy, but India is not ready to accept the cup directly from Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control in the current Pakistan government.

As a sensational report by PTI reads, “It is reliably learned that if India makes the tournament’s final on September 28, the players won’t be sharing the presentation dais with Naqvi, who is expected to hand over the winner’s trophy as ACC head.”
India to maintain No-Handshake stance for the rest of the Asia Cup 2025
It is also being said that India’s no-handshake decision will continue throughout the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The ongoing tournament could see India facing Pakistan at least two more times, including the potential final, with their next meeting possible in the Super Four stage.
Currently, India is leading Group A after back-to-back victories over the UAE and Pakistan in the ongoing continental tournament. Their final group match is scheduled against Oman on Friday, September 19. However, they have all but confirmed their place in the Super Four round.
On the other hand, Pakistan sits second in the Group A points table, having beaten Oman in their opener. They will next take on the UAE on Wednesday, September 17, with the aim of securing a place in the Super Four round of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
India’s gesture fuels Asia Cup 2025 drama with Pakistan
Meanwhile, the Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan has sparked a major controversy off the field. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha at the toss.
He and his teammates continued their stance even after the match, as the Indian team headed straight to their dressing room, leaving the Pakistan players waiting.
The tension escalated during the post-match press conference, with Agha skipping the media interaction entirely as the host was Indian Sanjay Manjrekar, while Suryakumar dedicated the victory to the Indian armed forces and expressed solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
PCB holds the match referee responsible for the handshake scandal
Later, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held match referee Andy Pycroft responsible for the incident and demanded his removal. The PCB also filed complaints with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and sought the intervention of the International Cricket Council (ICC), citing India’s unsportsmanlike behavior and rising political tensions between the two nations.
