India's support staff including T Dilip set to be sacked despite Champions Trophy glory

A major shake-up is on the cards for Indian cricket as BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar are expected to meet in Guwahati on March 29. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, Saikia, Gambhir, and Saikia are to discuss major changes in the central contracts and the jumbo support staff in the upcoming meeting in Guwahati.
A BCCI source revealed that some big names could see changes in their annual contracts, with some new names set to be added to the central contracts list for the 2024-25 season. Additionally, there will be a massive overhaul in the support staff.
BCCI set to hold a secret meeting in Guwahati
But the most interesting and surprising thing about the upcoming meeting in Guwahati is that the BCCI has kept it under wraps, with no other board members informed. It is being said that this meeting will be held only between the BCCI secretary, head coach, and chief selector.

Interestingly, this high-profile meeting coincides with the much-awaited IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. Meanwhile, the report claimed that some players, including Shreyas Iyer, are expected to be included in the fresh central contract, while certain others might see changes in their contracts.

Last year, Shreyas Iyer was stripped of his annual contract alongside Ishan Kishan for skipping domestic matches despite the board's instruction. But his sensational comeback in domestic and international cricket reportedly impressed the decision-makers to include him in the list of centrally contracted players, while a few players could see their contracts changed.
BCCI to sack India's long-standing support staff
But the real storm is brewing in the Indian cricket team's support staff. A Dainik Jagran hinted that India’s assistant-cum-coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach T. Dilip could be shown the door. BCCI insiders hint that some members of the jumbo support staff have been around for too long, and the board is now looking for fresh energy for the national cricket team.
The current support staff includes head coach Gautam Gambhir, bowling coach Morne Morkel, fielding coach T. Dilip, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, Abhishek Nayar, training associate coaches Raghavendra and Dayanand Garani, and physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain.

Apart from them, the Indian team has masseurs Arun Kanade, Chetan Kumar, and Rajeev Kumar; team operations manager Sumit Mallapurkar; security manager; and several others. Some of these members have been with the team for a significant period.
No one can serve more than three years?
Now, the Indian cricket board is also planning to reduce the number of support staff members. According to the report, those who have been with the team for more than three years might be at risk of being sacked by the board.
Actually, the BCCI recently introduced new policies that could spell trouble for staff members who have been with the team for more than three years. If implemented, multiple support staff members may lose their jobs.
