Indian women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who led India Women to their first-ever World Cup title in 2025, has predicted the outcomes for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Not only did she predict India as the winners, but she also claimed Suryakumar Yadav as the highest scorer in the tournament for India.

The Indian team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 under the leadership of the legendary captain Rohit Sharma. It marked an end to India's 11-year-long wait for an ICC title since the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Not only did India win the T20 World Cup, but the Rohit-led side commanded the win with a stunning show from Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and the bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah. Overall, India remained unbeaten throughout the World Cup.

Indian Women's skipper predicts the winners for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Ever since the previous World Cup, India has been the strongest T20I side in the World under the new skipper, Suryakumar Yadav. Under Yadav's leadership, India have lost just 6 T20I games since the previous World Cup and has not lost a single series since then.

India are rightly the no. 1-ranked T20I team in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings and will be entering the upcoming World Cup as the defending champions. Moreover, they are also the official hosts of the competition alongside Sri Lanka.

Action begins on the 7th of February, and recently, Harmanpreet Kaur, in an interview with the ICC, predicted India to reclaim the title in this edition as well. She might have taken into account India's unwavering dominance at home and the kind of support extended by the home crowd.

She also predicted the likes of Australia, South Africa, and England to be the other three semi-finalists alongside India.

Harmanpreet Kaur predicts Suryakumar Yadav's return to form ahead of ICC T20 World Cup

The Indian skipper has been doing a remarkable job as the captain of the team; however, he has surely struggled to maintain his focus as a batter. The T20I stalwart for India could just manage 201 runs over 17 matches in 2025, averaging less than 15 throughout the year.

Harmanpreet Kaur has, however, predicted that much like the last edition of the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav's bat would do much of the talking, and he would emerge as the highest run-scorer for India in the ICC event.

Though Surya's form has been of concern lately for the Indians yet with 8 more games until the World Cup begins, the Indian captain might be well and truly back to his groove. Harmanpreet also named Jasprit Bumrah the highest wicket-taker for the World Cup.

Though with the World Cup in the subcontinent, it is more likely for an Indian spinner like Kuldeep Yadav or Varun Chakravarthy to claim that position, yet Bumrah remains one of the greatest in the business. She also opined that the biggest six of the tournament might come off Abhishek Sharma's bat.

Jasprit Bumrah named Player of the Tournament for another T20 World Cup

Harmanpreet predicted the Player of the Tournament from India's victorious campaign in 2024 to retain his medal. Jasprit Bumrah, the fast-bowling stalwart, was not the highest wicket-taker for India in the World Cup; he was the second highest, yet a definite match-winner, and was named the Player of the tournament.

Bumrah recently got to his 100th T20I wicket, becoming the second Indian bowler to do so and the first to have claimed 100+ wickets across all three formats of international cricket. The legend is also closing in on 500 International wickets for India.
