Team India had another injury blow as captain Rohit Sharma sustained a blow to his left knee during a practice session ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia. Rohit Sharma appeared in discomfort but continued batting briefly before leaving the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Rohit’s performances in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy have not been up to par. Such Blows Are Common When You Play Cricket - Akash Deep

Rohit Sharma has three days to recover before the Boxing Day Test, with tomorrow being a rest day for the team. The injury didn’t appear serious, and the physio is taking precautions to manage any swelling. Akash Deep confirmed during a press conference that such blows are common in cricket.

"Such blows are common when you play cricket. I think this wicket was for white ball which is why the ball was staying low. But these blows are common," Akash Deep said in a press conference.

KL Rahul has faced multiple injury scares. On Saturday, December 22, he sustained a blow to his right hand while batting in the nets. Earlier, he was also hit on the elbow during a match simulation ahead of the series. Rahul has scored 235 runs in three Tests at an average of 47, with a best score of 84.

Rohit Sharma Can Think Of One Thing - Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra was asked if Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill should make way for Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel in the playing XI. Chopra stated that no such change would happen, adding that Gill should not be dropped despite his poor form outside Asia.

"Nothing of that sort is going to happen and it shouldn't happen as well. I totally understand that it's been 16 innings for Shubman Gill since he has scored a 40-plus score outside Asia. It's been a while. You have a lot of expectations from him that he will score runs, and things will change," he responded.

"However, will there be a change (to his place) - no. Can you leave out Rohit Sharma? Does anyone talk like that about the captain? However, Rohit can think of one thing, if he wishes. Come at No. 3 and send Shubman down the order," Chopra added.
