Australia stars Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy have been ruled out of the upcoming edition of The Hundred due to injuries. Both players will also miss Australia’s third and final ODI against Ireland in Dublin.

While Alyssa Healy is suffering from a finger injury, Ellyse Perry is nursing a knee problem. In the wicketkeeper-batter’s absence, vice-captain Tahlia McGrath will lead Australia against Ireland. She will become the 18th woman to captain Australia in an ODI. With both the star players out of the third ODI, Australia will be playing a match without either Alyssa Healy or Perry for the first time since 2013.

Alyssa Healy suffered a fresh fracture to her already-broken left index finger while keeping the stumps in the second ODI earlier this week. She had fractured both her left index and right ring finger during Australia’s warm-up game last month and played in the Ashes with injured fingers.

Perry, on the other hand, suffered the knee injury while batting during her 91-run knock and did not come out to the field later in the game. According to a report in cricket.com.au, Perry will require 4-6 weeks of rest to recover from the injury.

The injury has also ruled Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry out of the forthcoming edition of The Hundred. Healy was set to play for Northern Superchargers while Perry was set to ply her trade for Birmingham Phoenix. They were to fly to England for the tournament after the series against Ireland.

However, both of them will now return to Australia for rehabilitation. They are likely to return to action when Australia take on West Indies in a T20I series in October.

Phoebe Litchfield is set to replace Healy at Superchargers while there has been no announcement regarding Perry’s replacement. Meanwhile, India star Jemimah Rodrigues has been roped in by Northern Superchargers to cover for the injured Heather Graham.
