After enjoying a two-day rest, Team India hit the nets on Saturday ahead of the third Test against Australia. The penultimate match of the four-match Test series is scheduled to be played from January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The team-management had given the players a two-day break after the stunning win in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Bouncing back in style after the humiliating defeat in the Adelaide Test, Team India thrashed the hosts by eight wickets in the second Test to draw level in the series. Led by Ajinkya Rahane, India remained on top of the proceedings throughout the game to win the Boxing Day Test. Brimming with confidence, India will be looking to come up with a similar performance in the upcoming Test.
Injury scare for Team India:
During the first net session ahead of the SCG Test, India suffered an injury scare when their batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara was hit on his hands while batting. According to journalist Bharat Sundaresan, the right-handed batsman looked in pain after being hit on his middle finger. Cheteshwar Pujara left the nets to receive treatment from the physio. Fortunately for Team India, the right-handed batsman returned to the nets soon and resumed batting.

India will be hoping that Cheteshwar Pujara rediscovers his top form ahead of the third Test. The star batsman has struggled to do well in the series so far. In four innings of the series, his scores read – 43, 0, 17 and 3. With Virat Kohli not available, the onus will be on Cheteshwar Pujara to deliver the goods as India eye their second Test series win in Australia.
