Jasprit Bumrah is one of the greatest bowlers in modern-day cricket and has inspired a lot of youngsters to take up fast bowling. One such youngster is India U-19 seamer Naman Tiwari who has drawn inspiration from Jasprit Bumrah and aims to bowl the fastest delivery in the history of cricket. Naman Tiwari has been a great performer for India in the ongoing ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 where he has taken 10 wickets in five games at an average of 17.50.

Jasprit Bumrah is currently the No.1 Test bowler in the ICC rankings and Naman Tiwari idolises him and wants to play Test cricket for India someday. Naman Tiwari is a left-arm seamer which is eventually a rare breed in India. He hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and has troubled the batters in South Africa in the ongoing U-19 World Cup with his yorkers and speed. He has taken two four-wicket hauls in the U-19 World Cup and has wreaked havoc with his pace in the World Cup. Recently in an interview, he mentioned Jasprit Bumrah as his inspiration.

“Bumrah is a source of inspiration for us. I watch his bowling videos a lot. I have met him several times at the NCA and talked to him a lot about the mentality and skills of a bowler. He explained a lot, which has been useful. He told me how to bowl accurate yorkers, and I have worked a lot following his advice. I have to work hard to bring more aggression in my bowling.”
“I try to learn something from every bowler I like. I try to understand and learn by watching his [Bumrah’s] videos. I like Shoaib Akhtar’s speed, Dale Steyn’s swing and Mitchell Starc’s aggression very much,” Tiwari told PTI Bhasha on the sidelines of a practice session at Willowmoore Park Stadium.

Jasprit Bumrah Is The Only Bowler In The World To Be No.1 In All Formats

Jasprit Bumrah achieved a unique feat when he became the No.1 Test bowler in the ICC rankings. He became the only bowler in history to attain the No.1 rankings in all three formats at least once in his career. Bumrah has been the most consistent bowler for India and he has been lethal since his return after recovering from his back injury. He took 20 wickets in the ODI World Cup and has been phenomenal in the red-ball format since his comeback.

Jasprit Bumrah has played three Tests in 2024 as of now and has taken 23 wickets at an average of 10.70 with two six-wicket hauls to his name. He is once in a generation kind of player and his stats speak on his behalf about his greatness. He has the best average among players who have crossed 150 wickets in Test cricket after World War 1. He averages 20.19 which is better than the likes of Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, Curtley Ambrose, Richard Hadlee, and Allan Donald.

Youngsters like Naman Tiwari consider Jasprit Bumrah as an inspiration and they learn a lot of things from him. India U-19 will face Australia U-19 in the finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 on Sunday and if India wins the U-19 World Cup, it will be the sixth Under-19 World Cup title for India.
