Dynamic opener, Tom Kohler-Cadmore will enter himself into the IPL 2021 auction after impressive performances with the bat in The Blast and the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Kohler-Cadmore strikes at 141.19 in 81 T20 matches.
He is setting the stage on fire in the T10 League – after 5 matches, playing for the Pune Devils, the opener has smashed 186 runs at a strike rate of 204.39. Kohler-Cadmore has shown that he starts his innings with alacrity and doesn’t waste balls. The 26-year-old Yorkshireman would be on the radar of teams looking for openers or backups for their first-choice openers.

Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings have released Murali Vijay and Shane Watson has retired, hence, the three-time champions will be searching for an opener in the upcoming auction. While Ruturaj Gaikwad is locked for one opening spot, it is no guarantee the Faf du Plessis will be opening the innings in view of the underwhelming returns of Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni.
The CSK management could go after Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who is likely to be sold at a low price since he is a lesser-known entity hitherto. The opener can play attacking shots and could be a good replacement for Watson and Vijay in the squad.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Virat Kohli-led franchise has also offloaded Aaron Finch and Parthiv Patel has retired – meaning they will want an aggressive opener in their ranks; Tom Kohler-Cadmore is a good alternative in case either of the first-choice openers is unavailable.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to find a satisfactory opening partner for Shubman Gill in IPL 2020. Chris Lynn was jettisoned before IPL 2020 and Sunil Narine’s form with the bat fell significantly.
The likes of Nikhil Naik, Tom Banton, Rahul Tripathi didn’t show any major reasons to keep them at the top – in the end, they have to shift Nitish Rana from the middle-order to the top. Hence, since KKR has let go of 3 opening candidates, Brendon McCullum would like to have someone with flair and aggression at the top; qualities that Tom Kohler-Cadmore possesses.
