Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the prodigious former batsman Sachin Tendulkar, will enter his first IPL auction in 2021, setting his base price at INR 20 lakhs. Arjun Tendulkar might be a massive name in the cricketing fraternity, however; his statistics so far do not suggest that he will attract many bids. When it comes to List A cricket, he averages 33.50 and has an unimpressive economy rate of 9.57.
Arjun, a left-arm speedster, played in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, his first senior-level domestic tournament. And he could not put up impressive performances, further diminishing his chances of gaining an IPL contract. The 21-year old has featured in a couple of youth Tests too where his economy rate has been 2.95 and averages 45.66. Arjun has not enjoyed success with the willow either, managing 3 and 14 runs in List A and youth Tests respectively.
Will Arjun Tendulkar find a bid in IPL 2021 auction?
Arjun Tendulkar might be a highly promising prospect for the future; however, he is far from a finished product. Tendulkar’s limited experience and a less than impressive outing so far in the senior level games could make it challenging for him to attain an IPL contract. If the 21-year old does manage a deal with any franchise, he has to perform exceedingly well by grabbing the chances fully to leave his competitors behind.
