Australia and Tasmania fast bowler Riley Meredith raked in huge moolah in the ongoing IPL 2021 Auction after he was claimed by the KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a staggering sum of Rs 8 Crore.

The Australian pacer had listed himself at a base price of Rs 40 Lakh and once his name went up, a bidding war ensued between the likes of Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.

The Capitals and Punjab Kings went hammer and tongs to claim the services of Riley Meredith and eventually it was the latter who won the bidding war.

Riley Meredith has been knocking on the doors of the Indian Premier League for a few years now.

The fast bowler has been putting consistent performances for his state Tasmania and his Big Bash League franchise- Hobart Hurricanes.

In 34 games that he has played for the Hobart Hurricanes, Riley Meredith has claimed 43 wickets at an average of 23.60 and an economy rate of 8.06.

In the recently-concluded BBL season, Riley Meredith claimed 16 wickets in 13 games at an average of 24.62.
