With the second leg of IPL 2021 set to resume in the UAE on the 19th of September, Chennai Super Kings have begun their preparations. Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni will leave for the UAE, along with the other contingent, by the 13th of August. The three-time champions finished the first phase of the competition at the second spot.

The BCCI announced that the second leg of IPL 2021 would be staged by the UAE, owing to the monsoons in India in September. The board had to defer the first phase of IPL 2021 after only 29 games due to a few COVID-19 cases emerging within the bubble. In May, the BCCI named UAE as the host, while the T20 World Cup will also occur in the nation, a few days after the final.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings would hope to deliver better results this year in the UAE after enduring a forgettable campaign in 2020. The yellow army failed to reach the playoffs for the first time last year as their batting line-up was highly inconsistent. However, they have improved their chances by securing five out of seven matches in 2021.

Additionally, Chennai Super Kings should also have the services of their English contingent in Moeen Ali and Sam Curran. The duo’s performances were significant in the franchise doing well. Ali scored 206 runs in six matches, batting at number three, striking at 157.25 apart from picking five scalps. On the other hand, Curran snared nine wickets in seven games.
