IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians Squad For 14th Edition

Mumbai Indians participated in IPL 2021 auction after releasing seven players out of their squad. The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians had Rs. 15.35 crore available budget in IPL 2021 auction. The defending IPL champions invested 11.70 crore to buy seven players in the mini-auction. During the auction, the five-time IPL winners had seven available slots, out of which there were 4 slots available for overseas players.

Australia pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile turned out to be Mumbai Indians‘ biggest buy at Rs. 5 crore. The franchise needed a crucial replacement for Lasith Malinga, and Nathan Coulter-Nile was the man franchises opted for. The Nile was earlier released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction, and the franchises opted to buy him back in the team.

In addition to the 33-year-old Nile, Mumbai Indians also inducted New Zealand pacer, Adam Milne, in their team. The right-arm pacer was bought for Rs. 3.2 crore. Mumbai Indians also spend Rs. 20 lakh to buy Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar in their team.

Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, Mumbai Indians had released seven players out of their squad.  They were Prince Balwant Rai, Digvijay Deshmukh, Lasith Malinga, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Sherfane Rutherford and Mitchell McCleneghan.

The 17 cricketers which Mumbai Indians retained ahead of the IPL 2021 auction were Rohit Sharma, Aditya Tare, Anmolpreet Singh, Anukul Roy, Dhawal Kulkarni, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Jayant Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Rahul Chahar, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult, Chris Lynn, Saurabh Tiwary and Mohsin Khan.

Mumbai Indians is the most successful franchisee in the Indian Premier Leagues so far, winning IPL trophies five times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Mumbai Indians consists of some well-known names like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Quinton de Kock and Kieron Pollard.
